New Editors Take Over Thistle and Quill

No, this was not a coup d'etat.  Wells Wright and Don Bruce have volunteered to take over the task of editing and preparing your newsletter, The Thistle and Quill.  Judith Palmateer, who has been the editor for many, many issues, has chosen to pass on the honorary red marking pen and White Out to them.  Many thanks to Judith for a job well done over the years.  Wells and Don will try to continue the great tradition of an informative and entertaining newsletter.  But, members, you need to remember that this is YOUR newsletter.  YOU need to help with contributions of news and information that you want to share with your fellow St. Andrew's members.  Please let Wells or Don know of events that occur, births of children or grandchildren, deaths, graduations, weddings, or any other special events that you would like to share. E-mail either one or both (their email addresses are on page 2) with this information so that it can be included in the next issue.  You love to hear the news about other members, so share your news with them too.

In addition, the new editors invite any and all members to submit articles and photos that could be included in Thistle and Quill.  If you can write an article, or you have read a good one that may be reprinted, pass it on to Wells or Don.  It could be about your clan or a clan event, an event in Scottish history, a special place in Scotland that you have visited or heard of; anything related to Scottish heritage, history or locale would be most welcome.  Even just ideas about what you think others would find interesting.  But remember, Wells and Don are editors, not authors.  They need everyone's help to make Thistle and Quill something you look forward to receiving.

Come Out for Fall Pub and Family Day at Merlin's Rest Sunday, October 7

The final pub event for the 2007 season will be a family affair at Merlin's Rest.  Located at 3601 East Lake Street in Minneapolis, Merlin's will be all ours from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  It is meant to be a good time for the entire family, with many activities, games and a great deal of fun.

Food and soft drinks will be available from Merlin's kitchen and the bar will be open for those who might like a wee dram or a bit of ale.

Bring family games to play and cribbage boards.  We will have some boards available but can always use more.  Other card games can be had too.  Darts are available at $.50 per game.  We will also have Scottish Trivia with prizes to the winners.  Please join us for this fun fall event.
