PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Wow!!  The last two years have gone by so quickly!!  I have thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie of my fellow members on the Executive Council, as well as sharing in the success of the many events we have set up on behalf of our St Andrews Membership.  Their dedication and vitality have been the leading contributors to making these events a joy to attend.  It has greatly enhanced and supported our desire for the Scottish Community to get together in social environments and express their pride in our ancestry.  For their help and contributions in the last year, I thank them.

Now it is a new term for many of us.  I am back for a second two-year term as President.  The rest of the new leadership is listed in the box to the left, with some people returning, but to new positions, and some new faces that we welcome.

We have had some successes in reaching out to our membership, and creating some new vitality at the same time.  We have had some successes at reaching out to other organizations in the Scottish Community, and creating some unity.  We have many things to feel proud about, and getting new members is one we have had some success in as well, but feel we should be doing much better.  I recently downplayed some opportunities to meet and mingle with potential candidates for Saint Andrews.  That was a lost opportunity.  We all need to put forward a better effort into asking desired candidates to join our society.  With the change in asking our members to pay their dues based on a calendar year (January thru December), I am asking existing members to consider buying memberships for family members for Christmas.  October and November are the months we ask members to pay their dues for 2008.  Won't you please consider a gift membership for someone you know as you pay for your own?

As it should be, your Executive Board is here to serve you.  If you should have advice, questions, or concerns; please do not hesitate to call or email any of us.  We thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
Bob Olsson
