High tea will be the highlight of the St. Andrew's Society St. Andrew's Day Formal event to be held at the Science Museum of Minnesota in St. Paul. Arrive at 11:30 a.m., and you will be able to tour the exciting Pompeii exhibit at the Science Museum as part of the event and ticket price. The Pompeii exhibit of artifacts from the Italian city of Pompeii, preserved forever in stone when Mt. Vesuvius erupted in 79 A.D., has been one of the most interesting and popular exhibits the Science Museum has ever had. The exhibit is there through January 6, 2008, so if you haven't seen it, this is one of the last opportunities. If you have, see it again and stay for the Tea. What could be better than seeing it with friends from St. Andrew's. The tour will last from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. It will be followed by a catered High Tea, also at the Science Museum. This is a fabulous 6-course affair, with wonderful tea and scrumptious food.
Some examples from the various courses on the menu are: Savory Wild-caught Salmon Cornucopia Crostini on Dark Rye with Rondelle Herb Cheese and a Sprig of Dill; Slivers of Grilled Chicken and Sweet Pea Roasted Garlic Spread on Sourdough Diamonds; Scones with Devonshire Cream and Raspberry Preserves; Cakes, Brownies, Lemon Tartletts; Cookies and Shortbreads; Tropical Fruit Skewers. Sounds great doesn't it? To add a little extra class to this event, and because it is a High Tea, we are requesting that you wear your Scottish best and come in formal Scottish attire. Cost will be $35 per person, a real bargain for both the exhibit and the Tea. A flyer to mail back with your reservations and check will come in the mail in November. Watch for it and make your reservations early.
